Hi James;
Well Wheeler's parents would have been Jesse James Whitsett and Unknown, also says that Wheeler was born about 1849, so next try would be to locate his parents in the 1850 census place of Wheeler's birth. That was Spring Creek Twp, in Phillips Co. Ark. if not there, go to census Index books and locate them that way, see where they were in 1840. Always keeping in mind that there could be discrepencies in any of the information. I do not know who suplied this info, it was sent to me from another researcher, who had it given to him. But a good place to start. the ideal way to search would be to find the person you want, but that doesn't always work that way, sometimes it is easier to find the siblings all around them first and possibly some of their desc. as they may have some information that didn't get handed down through your branch, I have found this so time and time again with the younger siblings as they are the last at home, and would know the why's more then the older siblings who were already out of the home and on their own. head of their own house holds. They just seem to know more about family etc. you could also see if they had any sort of Military records,. church records, check out church records in the area,. where one source of record may fail try another to obtain the same. For instance, I located one of my great uncles marriage certificate and it gave me what I was looking for with my great grandfathers which didn't,.... there are many forums online, and another is USGENWEB.Org. Rootsweb.com is another. they also have online the LDS IGI site http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=af/search_AF.asp

That should help you get a start on it anyway,.... let me know if you need anymore help with ideas
Later Kathy
