Found more info on Samuel Whitney/Fisk, born October 9,1757 in Stratford, Conn. Believe that he was born a Whitney, but when his mother, Hannah, died when he was three, that he was adopted or raised by Nathan Fisk (Fiske) and his wife, Eleanor Whitney. Nathan Fisk was born March 13, 1772 in Ashford, Windham, Ct. His wife, Eleanor, was born about 1722 as well. No info on her background that I could find, but I believe that she must have been a relative of Samuel Whitney (father). Samuel Whitney didn't marry again for a long time, as children by his second wife weren't born until 1767. The Fisk family had five children, the last born in 1755, all in Connecticut. I don't think it's a stretch that they would have taken in a three year old toddler several years after their last child was born. Samuel Whitney/Fisk had an older brother, James, who was born about 1753, and James is shown as a Whitney, with a wife and children. Samuel Whitney just disappears after he is born, with no death date, or list of wife or children. Samuel Fisk doesn't appear to have any ancestors, and just magically appears much later in Pa. at the age of 93. It just seems to be the only conclusion I can come to, that they are the same person. Input welcomed!
