Rob,
My gg greatfather was born in Howell County Mo but no one has been able to trace his family. He married Vicey Ann Watts. He lived just south of Howell County around Leslie Arkansas also known as Wiley's Cove. This William is said to have some tie to the Cherokees but I have not been able to prove that as of yet.I have an inkling that this is the same William Whitmire listed on the Guion Miller Roll listed in application #39704.I have sent to the National Archives twice trying to get a copy of the application which should show a couple of generations back of his lineage. Family lore of my family has all said that we cane from Howell County but no one has been able to prove it.The only proof is in the old family bible which dissappeared 20 years ago and no one will confess to where it is. William's middle initial is supposed to be M. Additionally, he was born circa 1832.Can you help? This information is out there somewhere close...we just got to find it before all of th older folks pass on.Sorry for the late reply...just moved to Texas.
