Simeon, 1750-1800s, Rhode Island; daughters?

I am exploring the possibility that Simeon Whitford (a/k/a "Simon" Whitford) and his first wife, Mary Weaver, had not only a son, Weaver Whitford, but also possibly a daughter. If anyone can add to or correct errors in the following information, please contact me directly at duaneaboggs@live.com.

Simeon Whitford was born April 28, 1750 in Rhode Island to Nicholas and Mary Whitford. In April 1776, he married Mary Weaver, born June 28, 1752 to Benjamin and Deborah (Vaughn) Weaver in Rhode Island. Simeon and Mary had a son, Weaver Whitford, born December 25, 1779 in Rhode Island.

Sometime between December 1779 and about December 1782, Mary (Weaver) Whitford must have died, because in June, 1783, Simeon Whitford married Elizabeth Case, daughter of John Case, of Rhode Island. Simeon and Elizabeth reportedly had sons Solomon and Amos in 1783 and 1789 in Rhode Island.

In the 1790 census, Simon (and Elizabeth (Case)) Whitford appeared in West Greenwich, Kent County, Rhode Island with statistics of 1-2-2. This family composition is open to interpretation, and, in fact, might be erroneous (census takers were human, and made mistakes). In the 1800 census, Simeon (and Elizabeth) Whitford again appeared in West Greenwich, with statistics of (males) 1-1-2-0-1; and (females) 2-0-0-0-1. Again, these statistics are open to interpretation.

The 1790 data suggests that the family included a female, age not specified, in addition to Elizabeth. One reasonable inference is that this was a daughter, born before 1790 (and so NOT Mary or Elizabeth Whitford, born in 1792 and 1797, respectively). There are several possibilities.

First, this daugher could have been born about 1777 (about a year after the marriage of Simeon and Mary (Weaver) Whitford, but two years before the subsequent birth of Weaver Whitford, in 1779). Alternatively, this daughter could have been born about 1781, about two years after Weaver Whitford was born in 1779. A second possibility is that this daughter could have been born about 1785 or 1787 (between Solomon and Amos) and been a daughter of Simeon and Elizabeth. Thus, there is a possible daughter of Simeon who has not heretofore been "discovered".

The 1800 census statistics do not show any daughter over the age of 10 (i.e., born before 1790) but only the two under 10 (presumably Mary and Elizabeth, born in 1792 and 1797). A reasonable inference is that this female (daughter?) from the 1790 census had left the household, either by death, by marriage, or by "hiring out" as a domestic to some other family. IF she simply hired out, then she was likely at least 14 by 1800, and so born in or before 1786, and could have been the daughter of either Mary (Weaver) Whitford or of Elizabeth (Case) Whitford). In her will from 1831 (probated in 1833), Elizabeth (Case) Whitford only mentioned two daughters, Mary and Elizabeth. A reasonable inference might be that, if she had a third daughter, that daughter had died before 1831, presumably childless (because there was no mention of any grandchildren by a deceased daughter). If the female (daughter?) of 1790 left the household before 1800 by death, then she could have been either Mary (Weaver) Whitford's or Elizabeth (Case) Whitford's daughter.

IF this female/daughter did NOT hire out or die, however, then it is a reasonable inference that she might have married before 1800, so no later than 1799. If she was between the ages of 16 and 25 at marriage (assuming 1799), then she would have been born between 1774 and 1783, and thus could have been born in either 1777 or 1781 (i.e., either before or after Weaver Whitford, born in 1779). If the possible marriage was somewhat earlier than 1799, the analysis could still work, but if the marriage was as early as 1794, then this daughter would almost surely have been born in 1777 (to be 17 or so at marriage). In this marriage scenario, this "mystery daughter" would almost certainly have been the daughter of Mary (Weaver) Whitford rather than Elizabeth (Case) Whtiford.

Did Simeon Whitford leave a will (before 1831)? Does anyone know what children he mentioned?

My own "theory" is that this daughter might have married a man named Simmons (there were numerous Simmons families in the nearby towns of Foster and Scituate, in Providence County, Rhode Island, just North of Kent County). This Simmons-Whitford couple might have moved away to New York, possibly before 1799, but surely before 1807.

If anyone can shed light on the FULL family of Simeon Whitford, please help out.
