Charles Whitfield in Jamaica, 1677

Dear Whitfield researchers. I am researching my Ivey ancestors and found a Col. William Ivey in Jamaica around 1677 through British records (Minutes of the Council of Jamaica). At a meeting attended by Col.Ivey, there was also a Col. Charles Whitfield. Does any one trace this Whitfield later to present-day Wayne Co., NC? Some Whitfields had a neighboring farm and were associated with my NC Iveys in the latter part of the 1700's, and I want to explore the possible connection to Jamaica and whether William Ivey is of my line. Thanks, Gary Ivey
