John Kellum Whiteman of Sandusky, Ohio. John was born 13 Feb., 1834 in Sandusky, he later moved to Livingston Co., Illinois. Married his first wife Helen Stretch on 4 Jul., 1862. Helen was b. 1847 in McLean Co., Illinois and she died 25 Feb., 1872. John and Helen had five children. After Helen died a close neighbor by the name of Emeline Farmer came over to help care for the family, she and John fell in love and got married on 3 Jul.,1873 Emeline was b. 1 Oct., 1853 in Sandusky Co., Ohio to Daniel Farmer and Susannah Richner.Emeline's family later moved to McLean Co., Illinois. Emeline died on 23, Apr., 1921. John is buried in Pennel Cem., Towanda, Illinois in McLean Co. Emeline is buried in Evergreen Cem., Bloomington, Illinois in McLean Co. John and Emeline had nine children. Raymond Charles Whiteman (my grandfather) being one of those nine children.
