Hello, I realize this is now June, 2011, but i ran across your message researching my great great grandmother Rebecca Ward, she was married to my great, great grandfather Green Austin, Green died about 1847 & Rebecca remarried Calvin Jones Whitehurst.
Green & Rebecca had 2 sons, William Joseph Austin born 20 Sep 1846 in Dale County, Al, he being my great grandfather, his brother John was captured during the Battle of Marianna, Sep 1864, John being captured by the Union Army, sent to Ship Island, Isssissippi where he died in Jan 1865. Willioam Joseph also fought in the Battle of Marianna. I have been trying for years to get information on Green & Rebecca, it appears after her marriange to Mr Whitehurst she had additional children (several), probably after childbirth to a set of twins in either 1869 or 1870 in Chipley, Washington County, Fl. I have only known this part briefly, as i continue to find Rebecca's grave, etc. You can contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org, if you so desire. I will be happy to communicate with you. Hopefully we can exchange more information. Thanks, Wayne Austin
