Researching Hillery (Rev) Whitehurst (1791-1865)

I'm looking for information on Hillery (Rev) Whitehurst (1791-1865) born in Beaufort Co, NC. He lived in Tattnall Co, GA. and died in Clinch Co, GA. He named his first son Andrew Jackson Whitehurst born in 1817 in Tattnall Co, GA.

The same year Andrew Jackson Whitehurst was born (1817) was the same year General Andrew Jackson lead a campaign with his Tennessee volunteers in Georgia and N. Florida against the Seminole and Creek Indians.

How likely is it Hillery (Rev) Whitehurst fought under Jackson during the First Seminole War, and named his first son after the General and later the 7th president of the US? How would I go about finding this out?
