Elliott L. Whitehurst VIRGINIA BEACH Obit

Elliott L. Whitehurst, 90, formerly of the 400 block of S. Witchduck Road, died Jan. 23, 2004, in a local hospital. A Norfolk native, Mr. Whitehurst had retired from the U.S. Naval Reserves as a chief petty officer. He was a veteran of World War II and retired from Wilkin's Chevrolet as a service manager. Mr. Whitehurst was a founding member and lifetime member of Kempsville Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad and attended Kempsville Baptist Church. Mr. Whitehurst was the son of the late Luton and Mary Forbes Whitehurst and was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Harris Whitehurst and a sister, Frances Armstrong. Survivors include a daughter, Billie Marie Bordeaux and her husband John of Fredericksburg, Va.; three grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren; and many special friends. A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Rosewood Memorial Park by Dr. Kelly J. Burris. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Kempsville Fire & Rescue, P.O. Box 62345, Virginia Beach, VA 23462. Friends may sign the guest register book at www.smithandwilliamsfuneralhome.com
