Hello Victoria. Nice to hear from you.
My wife Michele is nee Whitehurst and is descended through two branches of the Whitehurst family who lived at the ancestral seat of the family at the location called Whitehurst in the parish of Dilhorne.
I believe that the majority of Whitehursts in the Biddulph / Congleton area are descended from Egerton Whitehurst who was born at Whitehurst, Dilhorne on 26th April 1654.
Egerton was the son of Richard Whitehurst of Whitehurst and Egerton is probably the brother of my wife’s ancestor Henry Whitehurst of Whitehurst.
Craven states in his book on John Whitehurst of Derby that Henry (husband of Mary & my wife’s ancestor) was Egertons son but I believe he was more likely his Nephew. Egertons Will may probably prove to be the key to resolving the relationships at this point and I believe I am close to locating this. (I think it was a PCC Will). I think it was Egertons son Henry who married Sarah and his nephew who married Mary.
None of this is certain yet. Another brother, John also left a Will, which should also help.
Regards Earl Davis husband of Michele.
