George Arthur Whitehurst, born Nov. 23, 1914, Stockport, England. Son of Florence Steele (Burns) who died in Manchester, England in 1966; and William Henry Whitehurst, who died in France serving in WWI. Had a brother James about 5 years older. George was sent to live with Clara Brelsford when he was about 4 or 5 in Buxton, Derbyshire. He was taken to the Stephenson's National Children's Home and Orphanage in Barton on Humbard, Lincolnshire when he was about 7 or 8. He was sent to Canada at age 16 in August of 1930. Sailed from Liverpool on the Albertic ocean liner. Landed in Quebec City or Montreal. Went to Hamilton, Ont. Two friends were Willie Mellor and Ted White. His mother possibly had a brother named Edgar Steele. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated.
