Let me clarify a couple of things per the research I've done thus far. Robert Whitehurst (c1635-1679) was the son or Richard Whitehurst (c1606-1654). This is proven by the will of Richard Whitehurst. I'm not convinced that Richard Whitehurst (c1606-1654) is the same as the William Whitehurst who appears in VA in 1636 and I therefore do not ever refer to him as Richard William or William Richard.

Robert Whitehurst (c1635-1679) had two sons according to his will. Henry Whitehurst (c1665-1726) and Robert Whitehurst (c1670-1741). Robert Whitehurst (c1670-1741) had a son Samuel Whitehurst (c1700-1756). Henry Whitehurst (c1665-1726) also had a son named Samuel Whitehurst, but I have not dates on him. The reason I feel fairly certain that my Samuel (c1700-1756) is the son of Robert and not Henry is because Henry and his family seem to have stayed in VA, while Robert Whitehurst (c1670-1741) died in Carteret County, NC which is the same county in which my Samuel lived and died.
