I am a decendent of Fredrick Whitehurst and his granddaughter Catherine Whitehurst who married Ira Pearce. I have not done much work on the Whitehurst yet but I was under the impression that the Whitehurst and Smith children were nices and nephews of Jonathan because Fredrick sold land that he inherited from his brother Jonathan. My aunt, before she died copied some from a Whitehurst family Bible. She has Fredrick born March 15, 1769, the son of William and Elizabeth Whitehurst. From the deeds that I have found I think that William was the father of Fredrick, Jonathan, William, Joseph and Sally although he only calls William and Sally his son and his daughter.
I hope to work on the Whitehurst family soon and I would be interested in any information you have on them. Aperently there were about three diferent Whitehurst families in the upper end of Camden Co in the early 1800s. I would like to find any conection. Fredrick moved to Pasquotank Co about 1807. That is where Catherine was born and raised so I wonder who she was visiting when she met Ira Pearce.
