Hello my name is Micah King. I was wondering did Hillard Whitehead or his siblings did any of them have Native American Slaves ? My ancestor Cleitha was a whitehead but she was put down as native American and was from Georgia. On the 1900 Census she was put down as black which is weird. The Dunton too from South Carolina who lived in Harris county they were Native American too and was put down as black in 1900. Her daughter Maria is the only one she had before her marriage to Wyley Bryant. On one of my relatives death certificate it said Lucinda Whitehead instead of Cleitha. Cleitha from 1880 is the same person as the Lucinda on the death certificate. Why Would a Native American take the Whitehead last name with no connection to it. Cleitha would have been a Creek Indian too. http://content.sos.state.ga.us/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=%2Fgadeaths&CISOPTR=319442&DMSCALE=100&DMWIDTH=600&DMHEIGHT=600&DMMODE=viewer&DMFULL=1&DMX=281&DMY=343&DMTEXT=&DMTHUMB=1&REC=1&DMROTATE=0&x=383&y=257 Household: Name Relation Marital Status Gender Race Age Birthplace Occupation Father's Birthplace Mother's Birthplace Wiley BRYANT Self M Male MU 27 GA Farmer GA GA Cleitha BRYANT Wife M Female NA 23 GA Keeping House GA GA John BRYANT Son S Male MU 9 GA GA GA Cherry BRYANT Dau S Female MU 7 GA GA GA James BRYANT Son S Male MU 6 GA GA GA Alice BRYANT Dau S Female MU 4 GA GA GA Wiley BRYANT Son S Male MU 2 GA GA GA Lizzie BRYANT Dau S Female MU 2M GA GA GA Maria WHITEHEAD SDau S Female MU 13 GA Laborer GA GA Source Information: Census Place Valley Plains, Harris, Georgia Family History Library Film 1254151 NA Film Number T9-0151 Page Number 443D Notify Administrator about this message?
