Carlton,

I am trying to research the same family name and noticed some similar names mentioned in your message. My GGGGrandmother was Eliza Jane (Whitehair) Melvin. Somwhere in the family was a uncle Sandy Whitehair. He ran a Genreal Store along Goose Creek in WV and was rumored to have gotten the land as payment for being a scout in the civil war. Eliza and her husband (Arthur Monroe Melvin) bought the store from Sandy and ran it after that. I know there was an aunt Cora mentioned somewhere along the way and my grandfather told me there were Shaffers(sp?) in the family, but i did not get further info. before he passed. Could there be any relation here? I have been unsuccessful in locating/connecting any other relatives names to this point. Thank you for your time.
