The name Whitehair is NOT Native American!

I'm sure most of us have Native American blood in some percentage, but our name is not Native American.

It's English - as indicated by the locations of most Whitehairs in the world (the U.S., Australia, the U.K., and South Africa - all colonized by the British).

I know it's easier to just say "yes, my last name is Native American" (I have done so myself), because of the frequency of the question, but it is not true.

My aunt, Helen (Whitehair) Nestor, Bruceton Mills, WV, did the research.
