My mother Shirley Louise Whiteford (l9l9 just passed away. Going through her family photos I have found a picture of her grandfather Capt. Edward Whiteford - 6 Penn (I think that's the word) Cavalry. His wife's name was Judith Chase (Father William Chase). The picture is taken in January 1865. Edward's son was my grandfather Arthur Wellington Whiteford from Denver, Colorado. Sounds like it could be the same Whiteford.
