Have you considered the alternate spelling Whitbread? My grandfather George Arthur Whitbread was born in Worksop, Nottinghamshire in 1873. Two brothers and a sister were born there as well. None of them named Alfred, but one of his sisters married an Alfred so might be a named after situation. You never know!
