I have census entry for 1851 for Edward (stated age 79 - should have been 77) living in South St, Ponders End (ref HO 107/1703, folios 528-9, pgs 27-28), with James (son, 36 - should have been 45?) and Maria (unmarried daughter, 33), 3 grandchildren, Esther(13), Fanny (8) and James (6 mnths), and widowed sister Jane Trueman (92 - should have been 87?). The family appeared to live in Ponders End (there are numerous references to this), but presumably it didn't have its own church, and was part of the parish of Enfield. I have checked various parts of the the Enfield register from 1771 to about 1837, which includes the baptisms of Sarah, Edward, Thomas and Mary Anne, and marriages of Richard, John, Jane and Martha. I've not seen the marriages you've given for Sarah and Thomas. I ignore the spelling Whitbread, unless I am very convinced, as the name was quite common. In fact I cannot recall ever finding this mispelling amongst known ancestors. My family, descended from Edward's son Richard (1807-1890), moved to Finchley in Middlesex sometime before 1840. His son, Benjamin George (1855-1927), moved to Nottingham about 1872, when he would have been about 17. Why he did this I have no idea, but he added 4 years onto his age and gave false ages for the rest of his life! The census entry for 1881 in Nottingham is mistranscribed as Whitehead on the Familysearch website, and his family therefore never appears in statistics! This has all been fully checked out.
