I'm descended from the Thomas and Elizabeth Whitebread of Enfield in Middlesex. Their children were baptised there between 1759 and 1776 (possibly 1783), so they were probably born some time in the 1730s. A Sarah Martha and a Jane, the daughters of Richard and Martha Whitebread were baptised in Enfield in 1738-39. Thomas and Elizabeth had children named Richard, Sarah, Jane and Martha (amongst others), so its quite likely Thomas was part of the same family. However, I have no idea whre the family came from before that, or where Thomas and Elizabeth or indeed any of their children, were married.
Could they be descended from the Essex Whitebreads? I believe the Essex Whitebreads were Catholics, which might explain why I cannot find out a great deal about them.
