I am seeking Jane McClatchey m. Unknown White, c. 1805, presumably at Iredell Co, NC. Jane was the daughter of (William) Hamilton McClatchey Sr and Catherine McCollum. She was b. c. 1784 near Statesville, Iredell Co, NC I have no futher information on her. However, her brother, (William) Hamilton McClatchy Jr, b. c .1786 m. (Dorcas) Eliza Alexander, granddaughter of Abraham Alexander who chaired the Mecklenburg Convention and signed the Mecklenburg Declaration. Her other brother, John McClatchey II, b. 1769, was a surveyor who moved west across NC and into eastern TN, settling at McMinn Co, TN. John II's second wife was Elizabeth Patton. His first wife is unknown. Sister Mary McClatchey m. David Alexander, presumably the son of Allen U. Alexander. The family was Scotch-Irish Presbyterian, with some Native American ancestry through Catherine McCollum, the McClatcheys originally landed at New Castle DE, and joined the other Scotch-Irish Presbyterians such as the Pattons, Alexanders, and others, who migrated from the 'Wedge' (intersection of PA, MD, DE) to Old Rowan County, NC, circa 1755. I have a great deal of information about Hamilton Jr, John II, and Mary, but nothing about sisters Jane, Rebecca, Charlotte, or Margaret. Your White family looks properly placed in time, location, and politics to be a likely marriage candidate for Jane McClatchy. If you have a Jane, please email me. If you know other researchers who are working on this family, I'd appreciate being connected with them. Beau Bowen P O Box 1118, Elkton, MD, 21922-1118 beau@netgsi.com www.netgsi.com/~beau
