John C. 'Jay' White, 82, of Yuma, VA, went to be with the
Lord on Monday evening, January 2, 2012.

He was born in Scott Co VA, and lived in Monroe Co MI, for
40 years before moving back to Yuma. Mr. White served in
the United States Army and retired from both Roadway
Express and Detroit Edison. He faithfully attended
Chalybeate Springs United Methodist Church. Jay was an
avid farmer who truly loved the outdoors. He especially
loved his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Jay White;
parents, Dewey and Blanch Nash White; sisters, Bessie Nash
and Sarah Birtwhistle; and his brothers, Jackie White and
Jimmy White.

John 'Jay' White is survived by his loving wife of 57
years, Lena Faye (Davidson) White; his sons, Danny White
and wife Donna, Temperance, MI, and David White and wife
Jennifer, Yuma, VA; five grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsay,
Garrett, Trevor, and Cody; five great grandchildren, Ryan,
Abbigal, Nathan, Andrew, and Blake; his brothers, Eugene
White, Everet White, Richard White, and Willie; and
several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012,
from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Scott County Funeral Home, or
friends may also call anytime at the residence.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January
5, 2012, at 7 p.m., in the funeral home chapel with Rev.
G. W. White and Rev. Larry Tolley officiating. Music will
be provided by his grandsons, Trevor and Cody White.

A military graveside service will be conducted by the
American Legion Hammond Post # 3/# 265, along with the VA
Army National Guard, on Friday, January 6, 2012, at 11
a.m., at Holston View Cemetery. Garrett White, Trevor
White, Cody White, Ryan Smith, Troy Cousino, and Adam
White will serve as pallbearers.

Scott County Funeral Home is serving the White family.
