Hi Rick, I am working on my Carolus White family (d. Susanna White married Benjamin Brown)and I am beginning to wonder if Mary Campbell who married Moses White, Sr. was the sister of John Campbell and both children of Duncan Campbell? If so, that would make Susannah White Brown and and Margaret Campbell (wife of Thomas Gillham), 2nd cousins. Would I have this line correct: Moses married Mary Campbell, then another Moses, then David then Carolus then Susasnna White? Why this is important to me is that I descend from Duncan > John Campbell > William > Margaret who married Thomas Gillham in Calfpasture VA. I descend from their son John Gillham, Sr.
Six of Susanna White Brown's children would marry 5 of John Gillham's children in Madison Co., IL and one, Charles, married Sally Gillham, John's brother Ezekiel's daughter. I have always wondered at the connections between this White/Brown/Gillham family; did I find their connection through their Campbell line?? If this is true, then I descend from Duncan Campbell twice? (I am my own grandma?? type thing)??
I am also trying to get the DAR to accept Susanna White as Carolus's daughter and they are hanging me out to dry without some kind of document that states she is Carolus' daughter: birth record, bible page, will, letter, court record..how does eveyone prove that Susanna is Carolus' daugher? Can you tell/direct me to a source wherein I can obtain some sort of record? Need help...
