Hi, LeAnn, our White lines are DEFINITELY connected! I too am a direct descendant of Moses White, who was a "schoolmaster" in New Castle County, Delaware. I descend from his son Joseph, who moved down to North Carolina and I believe was the first Justice of the Peace of Anson County, NC (which then covered a lot more territory than it now does!)
I have several White ancestors and I'm pretty sure they're all related! I have a great-great-grandmother (on my dad's side) whose maiden name was Mary Jane White. She was born 6 January 1826 in Anson Co, NC, and died 23 December 1884 in Union County, NC. (I'm not sure if the change in counties was because she moved or because part of Anson County later became Union County!) Anyway, my Mary Jane White married my great-great grandfather William Benson Marsh, born 17 October 1819 in Anson County and died 17 May 1907 in Union Co, NC. William Benson Marsh and Mary Jane White were married in present-day Union County on 20 November, 1844. I descend from their daughter Mary Ann (Molly) Marsh (1859-1909) who married Thomas Bragg Hamilton (1856-1937)--of course that makes Molly Marsh and Tom Hamilton my great-grandparents. (Their son James Baxter Hamilton, 1889-1969, was my grandfather, and an absolute angel. I was 14 when he died and I absolutely adored him!)
I descend not only from tons of Whites (I am thinking that my great-great-grandpa William Benson Marsh--the one who married Mary Jane White--had a mother who was also a White??? Need to check that and make sure!!)but also tons of Marshes! I must be kin to at least 90% of the people in Union and Anson counties in North Carolina!!!
And need I mention that even my dad was born in MARSHVILLE, NC? Named for our Marsh relatives, of course (both of his grandmas had the maiden name "Marsh"!!!).
Anyway, I need to go look up all my old info on the White family. I'd be pleased to share what I have with you--for sure we are related!! :)
Sincerely,
your cousin,
Patti
