Thank you for the info.My ggfather Francis Marion White was the one who is buried at Hickory Hill cemetery in Titus county. He was born 11/21/1843 (his father was Cicero White)and married my ggmother,Annie Elizabeth Wray, niece of Isaac(Stand)Watie, a half breed Cherokee - Stand was a Major General in command of the Cherokee Mounted Rifles, a Confederate unit. The Wrays had extensive property holdings in GA, but were forced to vacate and move to OK when the Cherokees were relocated.Francis Marion enlisted in the Stephens Ga Inf, Co B, which was absorbed by the 56th Ga Inf.He was captured at Vicksburg, paroled, captured again and spent the final months of the war in a POW camp in IL. He died 09/11/1933.Annie Elizabeth died in 1919. There is no record of him ever applying for a pension either in GA or TX.To my knowledge there is no connection between the three Francis Marions.I have not, however, researched the others, so it is possible that they are somehow related. I have further info if you are interested.
Bill
