Greetings,

I hope you have gathered some information on your James White heritage.

I have always been told that we are decendants of James White, and that our ancestry is through a Cherokee woman. I know litte beyond that. I have been able to trace some of my roots through that line. They are shown below in the Yarnell line.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Rebecca M. Yarnell married Joseph W. Scates (parents of Mary Etta)

Mary Etta Scates married William Raleigh Settlemire
Mary Etta made the claim to be Cherokee and looked very much of Indian descent.
