May be of interest to researchers of the Whtcomb line from Vermont.

I have purchased a couple of school books that came from Vermont and have wound up in Indiana, these books are dating from the 1880s. One is “Warren’s New Physical Geography” of Philadelphia printed circa 1873. This book belonged to Harry W. Whitcomb, (His autograph is on the fly sheet) Barre, Vermont and is the Spring Team March 18, 1880. On the inside of the front cover it is written: Class in Physical Geog., Spring Team of 1880; Instructor Miss P. A. Thompson. Also on this page is what I presume to be the class: Mr. Brewster, Miss Brewster, Mr. Wentworth, Miss Smith, Mr. Tilden, Miss Gurley, Mr. Tay, Miss Richardson, Mr. Smith, Miss Ward, Mr. Whitcomb, Miss Warren and Miss Patrick.

The second book is, “Huston’s Physical Geography”, printed circa 1876. There is writing on the front flysheet and the inside of the back cover. Only is the back cover writing legible to me This book was evidently a school book owned by Ida M. Durry, Williamstown, Orange County, Vermont. On this cover is the name, Mrs. Albert Whitcomb, Washington and what looks like NH or NY. Also, the name Anna Church is written on this page.
