I recently found the following on FamilySearch IGI:

Marriage: About 1778 Tennessee
Death: 1828 Claiborne, Tennessee
Burial:

Wife:
Mary Polly Ann Rice
Birth: 09 DEC 1769 North Carolina
Christening:
Marriage: about 1778 Tennessee
Death: 24 JUN 1835 Harrison, County Indiana
Burial:

Children:
Joseph Whiteaker
Birth: 1797 Virginia
Claiborne Whiteaker
Birth 1810, Claiborne, Tennessee
Death 1849

Does anyone know the location of Giles’ christening and the source of the record?

If Giles Whiteaker and Mary Rice were married about 1778 then Mary would have been about 9 years old.

Son Joseph Whiteaker was born about 19 years after his parents’ marriage.

Son Claiborne Whiteaker was born about 34 years after his parents’ marriage.

Mary Rice did not have a son named Claiborne Whitaker.

Strange!
