My great-grandmother was Eleanor Amelia WHISTON. The UK 1891 census shows her to be married to Charles SELF, a cabman. They were living in London with a son, Arthur, six years old.

This 1891 census shows her to have been born in Claybrook, Leicestershire around 1862. The only WHISTON girl born there at that time is Helen WHISTON. I have yet to prove that Eleanor = Helen, though I presume this to be so.

I know no more at present, but would be pleased to hear if you or anyone else on this list has more information of the Leicestershire WHISTONs.

Best regards
David
