Betty..there was a John Whisenant in Whitfield County that was married to Lois C. Phillips. His name was John Columbus Whisenant (May 20, 1877--May 18, 1924). Lois Phillips (January 06, 1885--September 25, 1946) & John Columbus Whisenant are buried at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery in the area called Cohutta in northern Whitfield County, GA. John & Lois were married June 29, 1900 in Whitfield Co., Georgia.
John Columbus Whisenant was the son of Christopher Columbus Whisenant & Sarah Elizabeth Weaver. John's grandparents were Henry Whisenant & Rebecca Beheler.

Recently, there was a long article in the Dalton, Ga newspaper about 2 of John & Lois' granddaughters, one of whom still lives in Dalton. I don't know where you live but you might have seen the article. 2 sisters separated and put in foster homes. Finally found each other after almost 60 years without knowing if each other was alive or not.

I spoke to one of the ladies and have promised to send her a copy of what I have in my files since she knows little of her family's history. We are distant kin through Henry and his brother George Whisenant.

If you are related to this line and would like more info, feel free to email me. Too much to put on this site.
