I emailed you but it was returned undeliverable.

Since you live at Wade, OK, you can probably drive to
Idabel to look at the archives of the McCurtain County
Gazette or to Broken Bow for the Broken Bow News. They
are more likely to go back that far.

My wife's Whisenhunt line live in the area also, but are not familiar with the story. But there is living kin you could ask if you email me for contact name.

Historical Note: Garvin was the seat of government
until 1907, when the state legislature declared Idabel
to be the County seat of McCurtain County in the new State of Oklahoma. The McCurtain County Historical Society might be able to help you with resources to look into.
