Donnie, thanks for responding. We are definitely cousins, but at what point I am unsure. I am going to quote a few paragraphs from the book "Whisnants Through The Ages" by Raymond C. Whisenant which may explain some of the confusion. If you would like a hard copy of the entire articles on the confusion about Robert Caldwell "Robin" Whisenant send me your address and I will mail it.

Robert Caldwell "Robin" Whisenant (His father was John Nicholas Whisenant II). Born, cira 1811, in GA. died, cirs 1857, in MO. Census in Collin Co., TX, 1850, Newton Co., MO, 1840. Robert moved to Arkansas, from his native Georgtia, then to Missouri by 1840, where he married Matilda Roseberry. He arrived in Allen, TX by 1844. A story is told that around 1856 or 1857 he returned to Missouri for supplies, and some logs for a new house. While on that expedition he drowned ina river. The following is a copy of a land grant document in his name:..."

(The document is inserted in the narative at this point)

Then there is a listing of his inventory and appraisement of Robert C. Whisenant's estate. Taken 1865...with Hugh Whisenant, adm. of R. C. Whisenant, dec'd...."

"Author's note: I obtained this document from Gladys Huneycutt Ballew. Acording to Gladns' notes, she obtained a copy of the document from box #24, lower floor of the county clerks office at McKinney, TX, in 1976.

"The book "The Georgians Genealogies of Pioneer Settlers", by Jeannette H. Austin, pub. 1986, page 382, lists Robert C. Whisenant in the family of Nicholas Whiswnant, married to Rachel Ann dooley, on 3/12/1840. I believe this is incorrect. Robert Caldwell Whisenant was already in Missouri at that time and married to Matilda Roseberry.

"Other researchers have placed him in the family of Christopher Columbus Whisonant. An intestate record, dated 20 Nov 1865, of Christopher Columbus Whisonant (printed under his family inthis book). It wists a Robert Whisenant, decd. This Robert C. Whisenant married Rachel Ann Dooley, in Lumpkin Co., GA in 1840. He was in Montgomery Co., AR by 1850. Therefore, I don't think it likely that Robert Caldwell Whisenant was Christopher's son."

"He farried, first an unknown woman.

1. Mary Elizabeth Whisenant. Born, cira 1833, in Newton Co., MO. Died, before 1860. Census in Collin Co., TX, 1850. She married Levi Turner, 15 Jul 1851, in Collin Co., TX

2. William Hugh Whisenant (My gg grandfather who married Mary Elizabeth Blackmore. He was born Oct. 18, 1834, Newton Co., MO and died Jan 9, 1899, Hollis Co, OK. I have a picture of this couple.)

3. Martha Whisenant. She married Mr. Stockton.

He married, second, Matilda Roseberry, daughter of Absalom Roseberr and Ann Dykes, 5 Dec 1837, in Newton Co., Mo. Born, 1814, in TN. Died, before 1860 in Collin Co., TX. Census in Collin Co., TX, 1850 Children:

4. Nancy Sue Whisenant, b. cira 1841, in MO. Census i Collin Co., Tx 1850. Married John L. Lee, 31 July 1855, in Collin Co., TX

5. Robert Benton Whisenant...
6. John Wesley Whisenant...
7. Amanda Jane Whisenant...
8. Matilda Ann Whisenant...
9. Margaret Isabella Whisenant...
10. Mathew Mark Whisenant..."

There are over 500 pages in the book, so, I have only given a small hint of what is there. I hope you have a copy, but if you don't let me know and I will share address.

What is your lineage from Robert C. "Robin" Whisenant? We may be closer than we think?

Thanks, and I hope this helps. I am in Houston. Where are you?
