In Reply to: Henry James Parker Whipple by Kaye Holt of 1875

Oliver Mayhew Whipple is a direct descendant of Matthew Whipple and Anne Hawkins who settled in Ipswich, Mass. in 1638 through Joseph Whipple and Sarah (____); Dea. James Whipple and Mary Bacon Fuller; Capt. James Whipple and Sarah Adams; Lt. James Whipple and Elizabeth Hall; Oliver Whipple and Lydia S. Leland.

Oliver Mayhew Whipple had 3 wives: Sophronia Hale, dau. of Moses Hale; Julia Ann (Hogdam) Wentworth; and Sarah Kinsman, dau of William Kinsman.

He had 12 children with Sophronia including Henry James Parker. None of the other 11 are named Samuel, Andrew or Elsie.

Oliver Mayhew contracted with John H. Boutelle of Woburn, Mass. to compile "A Brief Genealogy of the Whipple Family" which was published by Oliver in 1857. It was reviewed in "Book Notices" in the October 1857 issue of the NEHGS Register (p. 360) with the reviewer acknowledging the "care and research displayed throughout. The earlier generations especially have been traced through and several important points, hitherto (sic) wrongly printed, are now satisfactorily investigated."

I would appreciate receiving information on Henry's descendants.
