While Elizabeth Metcaff was John Whipps' widow, she was not the mother of his oldest children (she may not have been the mother of any of his children).Robert Barnes pointed out that Elizabeth's inventory was marked that she had no kin in the province, despite the fact that several of John Whipps' children were still alive.Additionally, she did not name any children in her will.If she did mother a child of John Whipps', it could be only the youngest, Elizabeth, who was underage when her father wrote his will in 1716.It is not known what became of Miss Elizabeth Whipps, so perhaps she predeceased her mother (if Elizabeth Metcaff was her mother).
Thought you would like the clarification.
