Whipkey mystry in 1880 census

I have come across something of a mystery in the 1880 census for the Webster District of Marshall Co., WV at the LDS site:

Jacob (Martin) Whipkey and his wife Mary are listed with their oldest child, Mary (b. abt. 1865).

The rest of their children (Almera, William, Martin, Barbra, Sarah, Queen, Ollia, Minea and Abram are listed with John and Riggel.

Is there a story here? Could it be a transcriber's error? Or what?

Bill Muller
