My grandmother's middle name was Whildin and last name Shinton. As a girl I met a couple other girls at camp who were introduced to me as my second cousins. My dad said really, their dad was HIS second cousin. When I used to ask my grandmother why her middle name was Whildin she always said it was a family name. No more. Nobody else knows either.
I am trying to figure out where the Whildin's from Wales and the Shinton's from Monmouthshire Wales (both of whom emigrated to Lansford, Pa) cross over into each other.
Would appreciate any info somebody might have. Glad to trade info too!
