Dicey "Folks Huxford"
I have seen this person listed this way in a number of places, but I am convinced that it is a typo that has been spread near and far rather than this lady's name. I have come to believe that someone many years ago must have made some notes from the Pioneers of the Wiregrass books, and written something like "Dicey - Folks Huxford" the Folks Huxford being the name of the source rather than her last name. This was at some point misinterpreted, and the misinterpretation has been spread far and wide.
Does anyone have any idea what Dicey's real last name was? She may have been born in Darlington Dist, SC, since that is where she and Eli Whiddon were married - but the info on her is so sketchy, there is no way to know at this point as far as I can tell.
I am descended from their son Sevier - does anyone have any idea where the name Sevier came from? I do not think it is a family name, but possibly his grandfather William Whiddon RS served under Gen Sevier? I have not done any research on this, it's just a thought -
