William and Lucinda Whidden
Hillsborough County, FL, Old Guardianship Book entries state that on Jan. 11, 1855, James Whidden, Sr., and others petitioned to have James Whidden, Jr., appointed guardian for John, William, Mary, James, and George W. Whidden, minor heirs of Lucinda Whidden, deceased. On Sept. 26, 1859, James and George Washington Whidden, minor children of WILLIAM Whidden said that their guardian James Whidden, Sr., had failed to perform his duty and requested that their brother, John Whidden, be appointed guardian.
The John Whidden, above, was the notorious "Long John Whidden," pioneer Florida desperado who killed in 1870, Francis A. Ivey, another desperado who was the husband of Barbara Underhill.
Barbara (Underhill) Ivey's sister, Spicy, was married 2nd to Bennett Whidden. It is my understanding that this Bennett Whidden was an older brother of Long John Whidden.
If that is the case, then their parents were William and Lucinda Whidden. Can anyone add to this?
