The person you refer to was most likely my greatgrand father born circa 1875 in Bridgeport Ct.He was a drummer boy in the Spanish American War.I am proud to have his drum from that war. His father,also George E Whetstine was the first German imigrant to the area,probably about 1850 and he held the first salon license in Bridgeprt,opening a beer garden in the mid 1800's.The subject had one son, my father, also George E Whetstine,who also had one son,the writer,also George E Whetstine,and I have a son, fill in the name,who to date as not seen fit to continue the tradition.
