Virginia:Thank you for your response.Things seem to be moving along and have taken several interesting turns in regard to a 2004 Reunion. As a result of Julie Wherry Sass's response we located an interesting site entitled the Virtual World Fair http://www.virtualworldfairs.com/stl/worldsfair%20main%20frame.htmhttp://www.virtualworldfairs.com/stl/worldsfair%20main%20frame.htm It deals with the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair and is developing a very interesting idea for a "Virtual World's Fair for 2004"I think there may be a possibility to bootstrap our ideas for a Wherry family reunion to that project.I have taken the liberty of contacting the organizer of that site to see if there is any interest. This may develope to be at least a central location which can be used as a meeting place for either a virtual or real reunion. We,ll just wait and see what evolves.I'm interested in your Iowa connections.A year after the 1904 Wherry Family reunion in St. Louis evidently some of the family members of the David and Ann Hall Wherry line were motivated to have another reunion.About forty members of the descendants of David and Ann(Hall) Wherry met at the home of J. H. and Margaret Wherry on October 4, 1905 in Guernsey, Iowa. They formalized the meeting by electing officers of an association whose duty it was to arrange the time and place for another reunion.I'm in possession of an interesting report of that reunion.I don't know whether subsequent meetings were held.At least I don't have further minutes of later meetings.
Many names were listed as those in attendance and my great grandfather, James Bratton Wherry, was chosen chairman of the meeting.I would be pleased to send you copies of the Reunion report if you would like.I'm not a real genealogist like many other responders to this site, but have always enjoyed learning about my family history.I owe a great deal to David A. Wherry, a frequent contributor to this site, because back in the mid 1980's he gave a yellowed onion skin copy of one of the genealogies prepared for the 1904 reunion to our family that peaked my interest in the family history.Hopefully this interest can be passed to future generations as well.Dan Wherry
