Hello!
So far as I know, in the early 1800's in Vermont, that time frame and location would narrow your search down to the descendants of Nathan Whelpley, b. 1/9/1701-2 d. abt 1779. Nathan's sons were: Joseph b. abt 1728 (I have no records for his wife or family), Jeremiah b. abt 1733 (had sons William and Isaac, who both had families born between 1795-1820, names unknown, possibly also Jeremiah and Samuel could have had families, no data.), Isaac b. abt 1737 (had at least one son, James), Samuel b. abt 1738 (no other data), Philip b. abt 1740 (no other data).
Although James Whelpley lived in Rutland VT after the Rev. War, he had no sons, so that leaves only Nathan's descendants.
Nathan arrived in Manchester VT in abt 1770-1771. Records are scant from those early years, but you might want to contact the historical society in Manchester to what they have re: church records of baptisms and deaths during 1800-1850 and also cemeteries. As for the location in WI, Nathan's great grandchildren began to spread out to NY and IL, and one in MI, so I wouldn't be surprised of some moved to WI with their families. As you can see, there is a lot of missing data.
(Philip, son of Jeremiah, did have a daughter Mary, b. 1808, but she married Henry Mayo. So, that narrows the field a little bit.)
Wish I could tell you more. If you learn anything new, please stay in touch. Would love to learn more about this branch.
