It continued to talke about the earlies references to the surname as one William de Whelehous who was in Yorshire, england in 1379.The Son of William Whelous was christned in Ripley, Yorkshire, England March 23, 1574.Markin Whelas resided in York in 1617.Aaron Wheelhouse, son of John was christned in St. Peter's church in Leeds, Yorkshire, March 30, 1672.Richard Wheehouse married Sarh Bensons in Knaresborough, yorkshire on May 3, 1770.Rachael Wheeless, Daughter of George and Ellen Wheelss was christnend in Harewood, Yorkshire, April 18, 1779.In the Pension Fills of the U.S. War of 1812 Lewis Wheelis served with Captain Lane's company of the Georgia Militia.I once found reference to a wheeless being sent as a prisnor from York England on the FTM #350 disk : The complete book of emmigrants 1607-1776. Emmigrants in bondage section: It didn't say much just this Wheelhouse alias Wheelas, John. Sentanced to transportation, sentanced by city borough court, Lent, 1745 Yorkshire.
