Branson, MO
Mrs. Milinda Caroline Whelchel (formerly Reams) died very suddenly with heart failure at the home of her son, S.D. Whelchel, at Branson, MO., 1 o'clock p.m. May 7, 1908. The remians were interred at the Brown Cemetery (Cedar Creek) amid the tears and sighs of many friends and family.
Mrs. Whelchel was born near Jamestown, VA., March 22, 1842; at nine years of age she with her parents moved to Hamilton county, Indiana. she lived in Indiana for 17 years. During this time, she married S.J. Whelchel ( Samuel) in 1859. In 1868, she and her family moved to Lynn (Linn) county, Kansas. In 1887 the family moved to Taney county, Missouri., and purchased a farm five miles south of Kissee Mills, where she spent the latter part of her life.
Mrs. Whelchel was the mother of nine children, four boys and five girls. Of this number, only three are living; Jane Williams, S.D. Whelchel and Talitha Whelchel.
There is a long, rambling testimonial with no more family information.
