Hi Steve,

We could be distant relatives. My grandfather was born in Newfoundland in 1890 (or around 1890). His name was Martin Joseph Whelan. He moved to the Natick, Massachusetts area and had a family there. He made frequent trips back to Newfoundland and I know that I have an unknown family still up there. There are rumors that Martin may have had 2 families, one in NF and one in Natick but its just a rumor. I never met him. He died in late 40's or early fifties. He had a leg amputated from diabetes. He was an electrician by trade. I made contact with a woman once from NF who believed Martin might be her uncle but we lost contact. She claimed we had a relative who was a famous doctor in St Johns. If Martin fits the description of someone in any Whelan family member in Newfoundland, please contact me. There are a bunch of Whelans from the Boston area who would like to reconnect with the lost family on my fathers side. Thanks, Bob Whelan
