Hi Gerry!
In the linage of Wheelus/ess etc. You noted that James Wheeless married Margaret Gray. In the 1850 Census of Meriwether Co. Ga. We have Abner Wheeless married to Margaret Gray. They had 8 children: Sarah, Elizabeth, Thomas, William, Mary, Martha, James, and Hugh. James was my gg grandfather and he served in the Civil War for the Confederates, as most Southern men did. He joined in 1863. Anyway, he married a Mary Pearson and lived in the Georgia/Alabama area until the early 1900's when the family moved to Claiborne Parish, LA. He died in 1907. I believe that the Abner that married Nancy Kimbrough is the father of Abner that married Margaret Gray, this Wheeless was born around 1805, and married Margaret in 1832. I hope this piece of the puzzle will jog some memories for some researchers out there.
