I am descended from Wheelocks(non-Indian) that lived/live in Syracuse, NY. When I've done research in Syracuse I have noticed that there are Wheelocks living on the Onondaga Reservation around 1900.
Also,Eleazer Wheelock ran a school for Indians in Ct and NH. I have an article that says that a Mohegan Indian, Samson Occom, became a Christian preacher after attending his school. Occum convinced Lord Dartmouth to give him money but when Occom gave Wheelock the money he reneged on his promise and opened a school for white men.
