SOURCE: The History of New England from 1630 to 1649: From His Original ... - Google Books Result by John Winthrop, James Savage - 1853 - Massachusetts The names of such as desire to be made freemen. books.google.com/books?id=UXAFAAAAQAAJ... Starting on page 448: On 17 April 1637 Thomas Wheeler (#1) On 13 March 1638-9 Ephraim Wheeler (#2) On 13 May 1640 Joseph Wheeler (#3) Timothy Wheeler (#4) On 2 June 1641 George Wheeler (#5) Obediah Wheeler (#6) On 7 October 1641 Thomas Wheeler (#7) On 18 May 1642 Thomas Wheller (#8) The following Cranfield, Bedfordshire, England baptismal information is from the 1951 article in The American Genealogist (TAG) "The Wheelers of Bedfordshire and New England. II. The Parish Registers of Cranfield" by John Insley Coddington. Timothy Wheeler - 28 December 1604 Joseph Wheeler - 18 February 1609/10 Obadiah Wheeler - 5 December 1609 George Wheeler - 13 June 1613 Ephraim Wheeler - 16 March 1618/19 I'm assuming #2 Ephraim, #3 Joseph and #4 Timothy were brothers, sons of Thomas the Elder of Cranfield who wrote his will 7 December 1627 and was buried 11 February 1634/5. (The will was published in the July 1937 TAG article "The Father of the Concord Wheelers" by Donald Lines Jacobus). Their other brothers were Thomas Sr. born by 1591 and Thomas Jr. baptized 9 April 1620 (according to Coddington). I'm assuming #5 George and #6 Obadiah were brothers, and 1st cousins to Ephraim, Joseph and Timothy. George and Obadiah were the sons of John Wheeler. In the Cranfield parish records, "1613 George son of John Wheeler, sen., 13 June." The other George Wheeler listing is "1605 George son of Thomas Wheler, 23 Mar. 1605/6." so I don't think it is this George because Thomas the Elder's 1627 will does not include a son named George. I need to check into this. Does anyone know? In Coddington's article, marriage listing "1630 George Wheler & Catharine Pin, 8 June. (This is the second marriage of George Wheeler, widower of Mary Studd, and later of Concord, Mass. See The American Genealogist, 12:5)." Obadiah married Susannah Wheeler, the sister of Ephraim, Joseph, Timothy, etc. on 20 January 1633/4 (Coddington article). Now, for the three listings for Thomas Wheeler: Who do the listings apply to? Thomas who emigrated on the James in 1635 Thomas Wheeler Sr. who married Ann Halsey 5 May 1613 Thomas Jr. (brother of Sr.) bap 9 Apr 1620 Thomas (son of Thomas Sr.) bap 8 December 1621 Thomas who settled in Stonington, CT Notify Administrator about this message?
