From census records, personal property records and land and court records I have personally researched. 1803 Washington Co. Va. a James Wheeler and James Wheeler Jr. pay personal and land taxes 1804 Washington Co. Va. James Wheeler pays a property tax. Only one James Wheeler paid that year. Records exist a James Wheeler died 1804 and left a will. 1805 Wash. Co. Va. Only one James Wheeler paid a property and land tax. 1806 No James Wheelers are charged a property or Land tax in Washington Co. Va. I have no records of any James Wheelers paying property Taxes in Wash. Co. Va. through 1830. 1808 Floyd Co. Ky. A james Wheeler is in Court and is a Justice of the peace. Many court records exist for this James Wheeler, paying taxes, in various court records and performing marriages, and has a son James Wheeler Jr. 1810 Floyd Co. Ky. census Only one James Wheeler is in the census and he is 26-44y/o. 1820 Floyd Co. Ky. census Two James Wheelers. The youngest is 16-26. The oldest is 45 and upward. 1830 Lawrence Co. Ky. census. A James Wheeler Sr. is 50-60 y/o. The letters Sr. are after his name. 1840 census Lawrence Co. Ky. A James Wheeler is 60-70 y/o. 1844 A James Wheeler Sr. and a James Wheeler Jr. are paying property Taxes. I have many more records of James Wheelers in Va, and in Ky. From these records anyone can order from Library Of Va. at Richmond or can view at Frankfort Dept for Libraries and Archives and a small portion I have posted and will send to anyone who wants them I see a James Wheeler Jr. who was in Wash. Co. Va. paying taxes from 1792 until 1805. I also see a man that was born about 1770. He made the first tax record about 1792.I can follow this James Wheeler Year after year paying taxes as James Wheeler Jr. What I don't find as of today is evidence this James Wheeler is a son of the James Wheeler who died 1804. A James Moses Wheeler has been said to have been born at Wheelers Ford, Norfolk Va., Rehoboth Mass. Orange Co. N.Y and various other places including Connecticut and A Wheelers Ford Wilkes Co. N.C. I have in front of me an article that I copied from the Historical library at Frankfort Ky., title is WHEELER BROTHERS MILITARY ACTIVITIES. Copied May 2009. Has you name as the submitter. In this article you give a Rev. War military record of a James Moses Wheeler born 1745 and died 1837-41. My only question to you or to any Wheeler researcher who sees this. Do you see any similarity in the records I have outlined to the James Moses Wheeler you have written many stories about? Notify Administrator about this message?
