Most of the early misleading work that I in error shared was from a character named: Peter Taylor Wheeler who done work in 1945 that showed this Wheeler line descending from a Stephen Wheeler of England...true I carried this info until time permitted (2 years) to deeply investigate and discover it to be untrue. This is why I have to "Update" my Wheeler Heritage Stories about once a decade to add new discovered data, correct errors, etc. /// Another example of which you speak is the with James Wheeler d.1804's son: Jesse Wheeler...the DAR accepted him as a Rev. War vet, even helped place a tombstone on his grave to indicate him as a Rev. War vet...but it's NOT TRUE..he WAS NOT REV. WAR VET. But in the beginning of my research I trusted the DAR to be correct in this fact...continued research is always needed to improve upon the facts and seperate fiction. Beginners into genealogy are quick to judge and haven't done their own research. This Wheeler line is difficult especially in Smyth Co. VA and then into East KY area where the many brothers migrated, named all their kids the same names, etc. I seperated these many lines because I needed to do so to find my OWN line, this took decades, if you've done better let us know.
