Ben:
The following is quoted from Mr. Charles P. Arthur,Jr. of the British Genealogical Library--"We have the name Wheeler being written down for the first time in the year of 400 AD. in north Scotland and moving south to Ireland and into England. The name came from the word WHEELER--the man in control of the wheel or maker of the wheel."
He has sent along some verification of data for a line of Wheelers, which traces my own linage, beginning with Thomas B. Wheeler born in the year 819 in the British Kingdom.
